POWERWOLF Tells The Story Of A 16th Century Murderer With New Single "1589"

Peter Stump feels like an appropriate name, given his actions.

Powerwolf is now streaming the new single "1589" off their upcoming studio album Wake Up The Wicked, due out July 26.

"1589" tells the story of Peter Stump, who lived near Cologne, Germany in the 16th century and is known today as the Werewolf of Bedburg. After being defamed as a werewolf, the farmer confessed to several murders under torture and was cruelly executed on October 31, 1589. This morbid story has fascinated people all over the world ever since and has been picked up by National Geographic, among others.

Pre-orders for Wake Up The Wicked are available here. The album was produced by frequent Powerwolf collaborator Joost van den Broek at Sandlane Recording Facilities, and some formats even come with a bonus album live album named Manhattan Metal Mass – Live in New York City, recorded at their first ever US show.

Powerwolf will embark on their very first full North American tour with Unleash The Archers a few months after the release of Wake Up The Wicked. The tour will begin in Los Angeles, CA at The Hollywood Palladium on August 29 and will hit a slew of major North American cities, coming to an end in Laval, QC at Place Bell on September 15.
