SCOWL Stays Catchy With New Single "Not Hell, Not Heaven", New Album Due Out This April

Santa Cruz hardcore band Scowl is set to release their new record Are We All Angels on April 4. Should you need an immediate dosage of earworm goodness from Scowl, go ahead and stream the first single "Not Hell, Not Heaven" above alongside a Sean Stout-directed video. Are We All Angels was mixed by Rich Costey (Fiona Apple, My Chemical Romance, Vampire Weekend, etc.) and is available for pre-order here.

"It's about feeling victimized and being a victim, but not wanting to identify with being a victim," said Scowl vocalist Kat Moss of the first single. "It's trying to find grace in the fact that I have my power. I live in my reality. You have to deal with whatever you're dealing with, and it ain't working for me."

Bassist Bailey Lupo added about the upcoming record: "The song writing on the new record was the most collaborative to date in Scowl's history. Everyone brought so many ideas to the table and we were able to dissect it all and take our time. We all have such eclectic tastes, influences and personalities and you can really hear that in every corner on this album."

You can also check out Scowl's contribution to the upcoming Real Bay Shit compilation right here. Proceeds from the compilation will benefit an upcoming DIY venue operated by Crossthread San Jose, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering safe spaces for all ages through community outreach and education in the local arts and music community.
