SpiritWorld is here to boogie your asses down to hell with a new single "Abilene Grime" and a new record Helldorado, due out March 21. It's a very cool song in that it starts off as this jaunty fun track, but slowly devolves into something way darker. The single comes alongside an increasingly-darker music video directed by Todd Hailstone, and starring both Voki Kalfayan and Hazel Honeysuckle.
"When I wrote the demo for 'Abilene Grime,' it felt like the album really found its identity and materialized out of the ether," said SpiritWorld founder Stu Folsom. "It twangs, it bangs and it has a sick video, directed by our dear friend Todd Hailstone, which we filmed in Las Vegas a few weeks ago. Enjoy, everybody!"
Helldorado features some pretty incredible guests, too! Blackbraid mastermind Sgah'gahsowáh provides vocals on "Oblvion", Zach Blair (Rise Against, ex-Gwar) rips a guitar solo on the same song, and Frederic Leclercq (Kreator, ex-Dragonforce) does the same on "Stigmata Scars". Helldorado features a mix by Sam Pura, mastering by Alberto de Icaza, and cover art by James Bousema. Pre-orders are available here.
While SpiritWorld's first two albums were companion pieces to Folsom's book Godlessness, Helldorado takes on all the events that happen after. Folsom explained: "Godlessness leaves off in a cliffhanger where all the surviving characters have managed to arrive at a villa in Mexico near where a rumored gateway to hell is said to exist. Helldorado is the first glimpse that fans will get into some of what is unfolding in the next novel that I am working on, that tells the story of what happens with these characters and the gates of hell."
