Watch METALLICA Run Through Their Motion Capture Sessions For Guitar Hero: Metallica

Check out this awesome blast from the past!

While on vacation in a small seaside town in North Carolina this summer, I wandered through a boardwalk gift shop-slash-arcade, looking at all the goofy trinkets for sale and the lines of electronic claw machines, when I saw her standing there: an OG arcade version of Guitar Hero! I rocked out like it was the mid-2000s again, hitting the little red, yellow, green, orange, and blue "notes" as if my life depended on it to Rage Against the Machine's "Bulls On Parade" a few times, and definitely got a few weird looks from the people around me. But, who cares? I was on vacation!

In 2009, Metallica had their own edition of the game, Guitar Hero: Metallica, and now, some of the motion capturing sessions the band did for the game's production can be seen above. The band can be seen running through "Master of Puppets" wearing those nifty gadgets that you've probably seen actor Andy Serkis wear in preparation for his role as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings film series.

Guitar Hero: Metallica featured some of the band's most popular cuts, along with some other classics from Motörhead, System Of A Down and Mercyful Fate. In case your memory needs a refresher, you can check out this game simulation video from YouTuber guitarheroROXS of "For Whom the Bell Tolls."
