Wings Denied will release their new album Just the Basics on September 20 and is now streaming the new, perfectly proggy single "Saudade".
"'Saudade' is one of the most emotionally charged tracks we've ever written," said Wings Denied vocalist Luka Kerecin. "It's a story about loss, reflection, and the haunting realization of one's own fate—a soundtrack to the nostalgic longing for something or someone beloved yet absent.
"Returning to the studio with Joel Hamilton opened up new avenues for experimentation, and this track is the crown jewel of that journey. Featuring choir vocals, violins, and even a glockenspiel, I hope 'Saudade' resonates with anyone who's ever felt the weight of longing and the struggle to be seen."
Just the Basics was produced by Joel Hamilton (Highly Suspect, Bonobo) and is available for pre-order here.
On the album itself, Wings Denied said: "'Just the Basics' is a representation of our desire to be every kind of band at the same time, unconstrained by genre or expectations. To make music as diverse as we are as people, as sometimes our lives are full of melody, sometimes emotional turmoil, and sometimes full of odd times and key changes. That's the idea of 'Just the Basics.' It's a little bit of everything, not only some of our simplest music, but also our most complex, and most collaborative record so far."
