It’s Monday and Mondays suck, so let’s grind it out with a song premiere from Marginal.
Hailing out of Antwerp, Belgium, Marginal is a five-piece grindcore/crust unit. One that had actually passed me by until about a month ago. The band has been turning out tunes since at least 2014 of the old and crusty kind. Hell, if it weren’t for modern technology, these guys would have fit right in in the 80s along with Napalm Death and Extreme Noise Terror.
“Useless Scum” is a pure, straightforward d-beater. The punk drive kicks the track off like a locomotive and the band crush it straight through. Ninety-seconds of Discharge-infused rage with a crusty edge through and through. And the track is largely a single charge. Marginal give it a little switch up mid-way through, adding a nice heavy flavor that’ll make you wanna bang your head. It’s short, sweet and gets the job done right.
Total Destruction will be the third LP by Marginal and will be released Transcending Obscurity Records on December 15.
