Wes Borland on LIMP BIZKIT's New Album: "Nobody Wants To Hear New Material Anyway"

Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland recently gave an update regarding Limp Bizkit's forever-in-the-works new album Stampede Of The Disco Elephants. He said he's really not sure what vocalist Fred Durst is doing at this point, and Borland also didn't sound terribly excited about the new material at all. Now in an interview on Dan Delray's Let There Be Talk podcast, Borland gives quite a few reasons as to why the album is delayed and why he's not really stoked about it anymore.

Basically Borland just feels like Limp Bizkit has become a nostalgia act, and if everyone in the band is more interested in doing other music by now, then what's the point of making an album?

There’s a record that has been in the works for a long time that is… You know, not, not at a place where I don’t think it’s gonna be finished anytime soon—Maybe it will, but I’m not sure. It’s a bunch of songs that have been floating around for like four years now. Little by little stuff gets added to it. But I think that we’re all into such different stuff that making a Limp Bizkit record is kind of difficult.

None of us… We don’t live in the same city anymore. So I’m not sure what it’s gonna be, or when it’s gonna come out, or what’s going on with it.

It’s weird to be in a situation, where you’re like nobody wants to hear new material anyway. They’re like coming to shows for the nostalgia and want to hear the old songs, so like, what’s the carrot for us to do a new record at this point if we’re all interested in doing other music anyway? If it happens, it will happen at some point.

Borland adds that Limp Bizkit was pretty stoked on doing new material after 2011's Gold Cobra, but that excitement died out. "I don’t know. It wasn’t the right stuff, it wasn’t the right material, it wasn’t the right time, I guess," he said. So either Durst was full of shit when he said Stampede is hidden somewhere online, or he finished the album himself and leaked it… or leaked the demos. Or is full of shit, which is 100% my guess.

If you're jonesing for some new Borland riffs though, check out Big Dumb Face's new song "Jesus Retreats" and grab the new album Where's Duke Lion? He's Dead… here.
