Today is truly a gift from the metal gods. First, Ozzy released a new song late last night, and now King Diamond has bestowed a new ripper of a track upon us.
"Masquerade Of Madness" is the debut single for King Diamond's first album in over a decade, The Institute, which is scheduled to be released sometime during 2020 via Metal Blade Records.
For those thinking that King might have lost a step in the last decade, you're dead wrong. "Masquerade" is everything you could ask for in a King Diamond track: old school metal straight out of the 80s and King's patented falsetto shrieks.
King's next album will be a concept album based around a story set in a 1920s mental institution. "I chose that because I think it's a very creepy scenario," the legendary Danish singer told Full Metal Jackie last March.
The concept is a two-parter which apparently will not make complete sense until the second album.
"Once you get to the second part of the story, you will begin to suddenly understand that, 'What the hell is going on here? What is this really about? 'Cause there's a whole different story that will not come to you till the second part," explains King Diamond. "But in the first part, you're gonna get to know a lot of people at a certain place."
Currently on a North American tour with Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats and Idle Hands, King Diamond completely demolished Brooklyn last night with an amazing performance at King's Theatre.
