Slayer only have three shows left on "The Final Campaign" with Ministry, Primus and Phil Anselmo. This iss what the band is billing as their final final shows. The band's last show happens in Los Angeles this Saturday, at the Forum.
Naturally, some fans would hope for some cameos and special appearances at these final shows. One person you will likely not see at the shows is former drummer Dave Lombardo.
Lombardo was interviewed by Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station about a new documentary that Lombardo scored called Los Últimos Frikis, chronicling the Cuban metal band Zeus. During the conversation, Lombardo was asked if he had any pans to attend Slayer's final show to which Lombardo responded:
"No. Come on, man. No. [Laughs] Yeah, no. I think I have a show on that day. I'm playing Knotfest in Mexico City [with Suicidal Tendencies], then heading over to El Salvador and playing another festival. I'm onstage."
The final three Slayer shows are sold out, but there are still some decent ticket deals available. Here are some links:
Nov. 24 – Spokane Arena, Spokane WA
Nov. 27 – MGM Arena, Las Vegas, NV
Nov. 29 – The Forum, Los Angeles, CA
Nov. 30 – The Forum, Los Angeles, CA
Lombardo split with Slayer in early 2013 after a contract dispute and hasn't been back since. He has since kept busy working with Suicidal Tendencies and Misfits, as well as releasing music with Mike Patton under the Dead Cross moniker.
Los Últimos Frikis captures an intimate portrait of Zeus, a heavy metal band from Havana, Cuba. After fighting for two decades for the right to play their once-forbidden music, Zeus embarks on a journey across the island for their first national tour. While on tour, the band confronts their own fragile place in the country's shifting culture as a new generation turns to newer, sexier sounds. Returning home to Havana on the cusp of their 30th anniversary, the band comes to terms with how they've dedicated their lives, as the film becomes a reflection on time, art and life's purpose.
