Ozzy On BLACK SABBATH Guitarist Tony Iommi: "He Intimidates The Fuck Out Of Me"

"He intimidates the fuck out of me — and he knows it."

Black Sabbath guitarist and father of all heavy metal Tony Iommi would probably leave just about anyone he meets feeling at least a little inferior. That includes vocalist Ozzy Osbourne.

In an interview with Broken Record, Ozzy said Iommi is just outright intimidating and he can't exactly say why. Though earlier in the interview, he also mentions "I still don't understand how he plays guitar, 'cause he's got no fingertips; he plays with plastic fingers" and Iommi's fearless battle with cancer.

"People will say to me, 'Why did you always sing on the side of the stage?' I don't fucking know. I don't know. It's just fear, I suppose. 'Cause Tony, he's one of the few people who could walk into this room right now and I would fucking feel intimidated. He intimidates the fuck out of me — and he knows it."

Blabbermouth points out that Iommi saw Ozzy's comments and was a bit confused. In an interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer, Iommi said maybe the quote was taken out of context.

"I saw that, but I don't know what he meant. I had a great time on the last tour playing with the guys, and Ozzy never mentioned anything to me. He seemed to enjoy it and we had a laugh, so I don't know. So I think possibly that quote was taken out of context."

I don't think Ozzy means intimidate in a fearful way in that context, but in terms of just sheer power as a human being and how that could be unnerving to anyone. I mean, the man invented a genre of music due to his circumstances in life. That's impressive!

Ozzy is hitting the road with Marilyn Manson in the states and Judas Priest in Europe and the UK.
