While Satyricon have been keeping a low profile, vocalist Sigurd "Satyr" Wongraven has been producing and selling his own wine, and he recently sold his company for A LOT of money.
Satyr launched Wongraven Wines a few years ago, and built the business up to be valued at NOK 57 million or about $6 million USD. Satyr sold 90% of his business to a company called Vingruppen, owned by wine and spirits producer Arcus, in 2019 for an undisclosed amount at the time.
Well, undisclosed until Norwegian newspaper Dagens Næringsliv got a hold of the Vingruppen financial statements for 2019.
Dagens Næringsliv reports Satyr sold his business for NOK 51.3 million, or about $5.4 million US. Satyr's wines are highly rated, according to the newspaper, getting very favorable reviews by wine critic Merete Bø. Satyr has yet to publicly comment on the news.
So congratulations to Wongraven on his success! Wongraven Wines also has their own Instagram, which you can check out here.
