Did you watch the big New Japan Pro Wrestling two night event, WrestleKingdom earlier this week? The Japanese answer to WrestleMania always manages to have some sort of metal flair, like the time Marty Friedman accompanied Hiroshi Tanahashi to the ring. At the kick off of the first night, on January 4th, fans were treated to some metal in the form of Bullet Club member El Phantasmo's new entrance theme.
EL-P, as he's affectionately known, worked with producer David Lo Pan (who we've interviewed) recruited guitarists Thomas Williams (Stray from the Path) and Rick Jimenez (This Is Hell, Extinction A.D.) to contribute some guitar parts to this synthy, metal, dubstep track.
EL-P tells Metal Injection how the track came to be. "I knew I had something special when David (Grimason) and I finished it early summer time. Getting to collaborate with two icons in the metalcore scene was surreal as it brings an authenticity to the whole metal/dubstep vibe that #HDBNGCLUB is all about."
He continued "I took a risk by purposely taking away licensing rights from NJPW at the Super J-Cup but it worked as I got paid double the original licensing fee to debut it at Wrestle Kingdom earlier this week, and that was masterclass of cruel genius on my part. My bank account is happy and now I'm happy the fans can enjoy one of the greatest wrestling themes of all time!"
