Record Store Day 2023 will take place on April 22 and, as always, sees a solid showing from the rock and metal crowd. Among this year's heavier releases are live albums from Dio, Motörhead, Van Halen, and Undeath; some reissues from the now-classic bands like Kittie, Taproot, and Shadows Fall; and even the first vinyl pressing of Death's Fate: The Best Of Death compilation in over 30 years.
Some of the stranger releases this year include Porcupine Tree's IA / DW / XT, which is a selection of In Absentia and Deadwing bonus tracks; a 12" of The Mars Volta's single "Frances The Mute" (which wasn't on the album of the same name); and a reissue of HORSE the band's 2005 album The Mechanical Hand. The latter of which feels random given HORSE the band has largely been absent aside from a brief 2020 comeback with an EP.
