Gatekeeping online is one thing, but saying that a band wouldn't approve of a cover is just plain dumb. Bagpiper Ally Crowley-Duncan, or Ally the Piper, posted a handful of Metallica songs and one commenter felt that James Hetfield wouldn't approve.
Metallica caught wind of the stupid comment and shut the dude down, because c'mon – what band wouldn't want their music covered by other people on the Internet? Or as Metallica put it, "this guy doesn't speak on our behalf. You're awesome." Which of course made Crowley-Duncan's day, as it should!
