Vipassi – the instrumental prog powerhouse – is back with the revised lineup of drummer Daniel Presland (ex-Ne Obliviscaris, Black Lava, Virvum), guitarists Ben Boyle (Black Lava, Hadal Maw, AMDBL) and Benjamin Baret (Ne Obliviscaris, Maer), and fretless bassist Arran McSporran (Virvum, Seven7, Cosmitorium). The band is now streaming their sometimes spacey, otherwise bludgeoning new single "Morningstar" from their first record since 2017 Lightless, due out January 26.
On the single, Presland simply noted that it's "A terrifying glimpse of the world beyond, visions of the future and its potential." Y'know, the kind of feel-good message you want right at the top of the new year.
