In 2013 we got an Ulver album, but in 2014 we get a bunch of interesting Ulver collaborations!

2013 saw the release of Ulver's Messe I.X-VI.X, which was one of my favorites of the year. Now the band are treading familiar ground once more by composing the soundtrack to the "Demoner" play to be put on at the National Theater in Oslo, Norway, which premieres Feb. 6 and goes until March. I say familiar ground because the band have done soundtracks in the past for two films, namely their Lyckantropen Themes in 2002 and Svidd neger in 2003. The play also sounds like it's right up their alley given it's a "loose interpretation" of Dostoyevsky "The Possessed." The band took to Facebook to say about the play:

"As in Dostoyevsky's original, Demoner 2014 is an attempt to understand our age by making visible what we dare not look at. It is right-wing extremism against high culture's chic radicalism. Lifelong faithfulness against sexualized self-fulfillment. Moral reestablishment against the charming cynicism of liberalism. And maybe is it love that impels us all?"

Interesting! I'm hoping they'll release the soundtrack as a stand alone album as they've done with the two aforementioned. Between this and their upcoming collaboration with Sunn O))), we'll be seeing plenty of the band in 2014.
