"Death Angel ain't fuckin' goin' nowhere!" proclaimed Death Angel vocalist Mark Osegueda.
After 40 plus years and counting, "Ballistic Battle Ram" thrash legends and the youngest band in old school thrash metal Death Angel are still going strong and heavy, performing their 9th year of two sold out Xmas shows at The Great American Music Hall in their home town of San Francisco.
Seeing the guys walk out on stage one by one was so exciting to see again – Death Angel started out with "Five Steps Of Freedom" then "Thicker Than Blood". As always, you could feel their adrenaline, passion, and pure energy.
Death Angel's Xmas shows started due to their influence of when The Beatles used to perform yearly Christmas concerts in their hometown of Liverpool, England. Death Angel has continued that tradition for nine years. For every Christmas show, Death Angel perform a Xmas cover & a Beatles cover song. This year's Christmas songs included "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" – The Beatles covers were "Anytime at All" and "Looking Through You".
The guys closed out their Friday the 13th show with their 1988 release "Bored" and their 1987 release "Thrashers". Night 2, Saturday the 14th, they played some obscure classics, "Seemingly Endless Time" and "3rd Floor". It was a great two nights celebrating the San Francisco thrash metal scene with Death Angel for Christmas.
"We are all fortunate to grown up in this fking incredible melting pot, which I also think, is the most accepting beautiful fucking metal scene in the fking planet," said Osegueda from stage.
Many of us have always wanted to know – why isn't Death Angel bigger!!?? They sure deserve to be!
