It Doesn't Sound Like OZZY OSBOURNE Will Sing At His Rock Hall Induction Show

Maynard James Keenan's comment seems to have revealed the situation.

Ozzy Osbourne's induction in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame will take place on October 19 at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, OH. The induction features a handful of vocalists performing Osbourne's music, though it was never clear if Osbourne himself would also be singing at the show.

In an interview with The Allison Hagendorf Show, Tool's Maynard James Keenan – one of the vocalists slated to sing at the show – seems to have revealed that Osbourne will not be performing. Keenan called the situation "depressing" in that Osbourne will be filled in for by other vocalists, but notes that it's still inspiring to have this opportunity.

"Yeah, I mean, it's, if I'm being honest, mixed feelings," said Keenan. "'Cause I'm having to come in, and a couple of other people are coming in, to sing for him, which is depressing, to have to sing for him. But that we're able to step up and help him in this induction is inspiring. I'm glad I got the call. I'm sure a bunch of people got the call, but I think I responded first."

On being able to sing Osbourne's material, Maynard later added: "It's terrifying — extremely terrifying. Yeah, 'cause this is for him, and his song is out of my range. So I'm gonna be struggling to hit the notes, but I got the call and so I answered."

Musicians slated to perform at Osbourne's Rock Hall induction include:

  • Billy Idol
  • Maynard James Keenan
  • Jelly Roll
  • Zakk Wylde
  • Andrew Watt
  • Steve Stevens
  • Wolfgang Van Halen
  • Robert Trujillo
  • Chad Smith
