GOJIRA's JOE DUPLANTIER Thinks METALLICA Should Play The Super Bowl

"It's a shame that they were never invited. That would make sense."

Metallica will never play the Super Bowl. James Hetfield has made it clear that the whole performance isn't for them, and our former editor Rob Pasbani even had a whole editorial about why it wouldn't happen. Despite all that, Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier still thinks Metallica should absolutely play the Super Bowl.

In a recent interview with Loudwire about Gojira's recent Olympics opening ceremony performance, Duplantier outlined why Metallica would be perfect for the Super Bowl halftime show. And all his reasoning is completely sound and I personally agree 100-percent… but yeah, Metallica ain't playing the Super Bowl halftime show.

"I think Metallica belongs in the Halftime performance of the Super Bowl. It's a shame that they were never invited. That would make sense. I hope we will get to see that. Playing 'Master of Puppets' and 'Enter Sandman.' Imagine that! Metallica is known in the sports world. A lot of pitchers walk to the mound with "Enter Sandman" or at football games I hear a lot, their music is very present. They just deserve to do the halftime. It would be a total success."

He continued: "People are watching the Olympics. The organizers, they're all dedicated people, professionals. I'm sure they keep their ear to the ground and want to make sure to not miss anything. And hopefully it'll give ideas to the Super Bowl people."

Super Bowl LIX is set to take place on February 9, 2025 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, LA. Rapper Kendrick Lamar will headline the halftime show and, despite not being Metallica, that guy deserves it. What an immense talent.
