Jason Roeder (Neurosis, Tribes Of Neurot, Sleep) appears to have either quit or be in the process of quitting music.
According to the only post on Roeder's Instagram anymore, he is "no longer a touring musician so I will be selling off most (possibly all) of my equipment and belongings." Roeder also updated his Instagram bio to read "I used to go on stage and pretend I was supposed to be there." Furthermore, it appears that Roeder deleted everything off his Instagram a few months back and originally replaced it all with a single post, reading "music is a cruel bitch."
I'm guessing Roeder's displeasure with music comes after Neurosis quietly called it quits in 2019 after it was revealed that frontman Scott Kelly was abusing his wife and children. Neurosis issued a statement about the situation in 2022 and has been silent ever since.
Interestingly, Sleep guitarist Matt Pike said in an interview with Steelworks in March 2024 that Sleep had been working on something, but he wasn't at liberty to say what it is. So it's not clear if Roeder is involved or not, or if he's just sticking to being a studio guy with zero interest in the live world.
Regardless, we hope everything is going alright in Roeder's world.
