You gotta love a charming name like Witch Vomit! These fiends of filth play a Swedish-style death metal of the old school variety, and from lovely Portland, Oregon no less. These beer-breathed minions are less refined than your Bloodbaths and Entrails of the world but there is a certain rotteness that permeates on their album, Webs of Horror, that makes it seem authentically older than output by either party in question. Fleshpeeling is the term I would use to desribe Witch Vomit's deadly HM-2 guitar tone. I haven't heard one so harsh since Dismember's Pieces EP. It's like a buzzsaw right through the ear drums!
I really can't get enough of this stuff. I know every riff here has pretty much been done before, but these guys have a great amount of enthusiasm for what they are doing and it goes a long way. I don't care if it's nothing new, it's good, and it always needs to exist. There needs to be bands like this in basements across the globe that swear to the mossy ways of old and churn out awesome Sunlight Studios style fuzzed out death metal… living breathing proof that death will never die!
