While guitaist Tom "Fountainhead" Geldschläger has been creating music for many years now, his phenomenal performance on Obscura – Akroasis earlier this year really helped raise his visibility in the metal community. Though he is no longer with Obscura, he has already contributed greatly to another fantastic record this year with the new Pitts Minneman Project full-length, The Psychic Planetarium. Apparently his creativity is limitless, because he's already back at it again with a new solo album called Reverse Engineering.
On Reverse Engineering, Tom experiments with a wholly progressive metal sound, but one that's eclectic in it's aim of covering different sonic ground and textures from song to song. All in all, the album delivers an interesting and diverse experience that feels so much more intricately layered and densely composed than your average guitar driven solo album. Part of that certainly has something to do with the highly talented large supporting cast of musicians who accompany Tom on the album.
So stream the album below and feel it out for yourself. If you're digging the music below, Reverse Engineering comes out this Friday, August 5th and can be pre-ordered at the Fountainhead Bandcamp page.
