Last we heard, Maynard James Keenan was finally working on vocals for the new Tool album, meaning the album is likely pretty far along in terms of its creation. Today we get another clue!
Drummer Danny Carey sat in with Genesis cover band The Musical Box last night, and when the frontman of said cover band introduced Carey to the stage, he noted that Carey was in Tool and that "the band is going to be releasing a new album pretty soon." Pretty soon?!
I'm going to take a guess and say that Tool is going to surprise release the album on June 4 when they play the Governor's Ball. You heard it here first. Okay, I totally pulled that out of my ass.
We named Tool's forthcoming record one of the most anticipated releases of the year, could we actually get it in 2017? Seth Meyers said the exact same thing when Carey sat in on the show last Septmeber. Carey has been saying the album is coming soon since 2013, so maybe we won't hold our breath just yet.
