Oh, hey there! You may have noticed something different in the air today. No, we didn't get a haircut, we just fixed up a bunch of things with the site to make you the junkie, as comfortable as possible. Here is a quick look at some of the site updates we have made:
The blog returns to the main page!
One of the biggest requests we've gotten since updating the site layout a year ago was to bring the blog content back to the main page. You've asked, we've listened! You can now scroll through all of our featured videos and news stories on the main page.
You can now login with Facebook (and other services)
Who likes signing up for things anymore? One of the biggest requests we've gotten is to further integrate Facebook with the site, so we've done it. You can now login to our site with one simple click, using your Facebook credentials. On future visits, if you're already logged into Facebook, when you visit our site, you will be automatically logged in as well. We have also implemented this service for accounts with Google, Twitter, AIM, Yahoo and OpenID. Note that we do NOT store your passwords for these services on our servers, so this is completely secure.
Threaded Commenting
Continuing our quest to modernize the site, we have now implemented threaded commenting to all news posts and video pages. You can now reply directly to the troll who says your favorite band sucks, so it would be impossible for him to miss.
New User Profiles
If you are logged into the site, and click your name, you will notice you will be taken to an entirely new profile page. We now have combined it with the forum interface for a familiar feel. You can now add personal photo albums. Friend management is much more user-friendly. It's just more betterer!
This is just the beginning!
This was phase 1 of some major planned overhauls we have in mind for the site. Our next two priorities are going to be a better functioning Search page as well as a new mobile version of the website for smartphones, as well as the launch of the full-on RIP a Livecast website. It's going to be an exciting next few months here at Metal Injection.
We'd love to hear what you think of all the changes, leave a comment with your opinions on the new site. We are still fixing up any loose ends with the switch to the new layout. If you are experiencing any bugs with the new site, please send an email to robert [at] metalinjection dot net with the problem. Make sure to include what browser you're using and if you're on Windows or Mac.
Keep getting your fix!
