Apparently It's Ridiculous That Actor MARGOT ROBBIE Likes Heavy Metal

Cate Blanchett wasn't cool about it.

Margot Robbie

It's no secret actor Margot Robbie is a huge metal fan. Robbie previously talked about her love of bands like Slipknot and Metallica, and was pretty stoked that Bullet For My Valentine is a fan of hers.

Then in a recent episode of The Graham Norton Show, Robbie said she "genuinely likes" metal after being asked if she actually likes the genre by fellow actor Cate Blanchett. Or as Blanchett put it "Does anyone like music heavy metal music?" before adding with a little unneeded snark, "Do you like monster trucks and things like that?" Shout out to Robbie for playing it cool despite the belittling and expressing her love for metal in a coherent way.

And it's not like enjoying heavy metal was some far-fetched idea, especially now when the genre is arguably more present in pop culture than it ever has been before. Also, people like heavy metal. It's not that crazy. There's a reason Metallica's self-titled 1991 album has sold 16 million copies in the United States alone, and it's not because heavy metal is super underground.

Robbie then recounted going to see Slipknot and fans coming up to her to talk about the long-running Australian soap opera Neighbours. Robbie played the character Donna Freedman on the show between 2008 and 2011, and then again in 2022. Not that we needed to explain that to Slipknot fans, apparently.

"I remember going to the Slipknot concert… at the time I was on Neighbors," said Robbie. "I have never had more people come up to me ever than at a Slipknot concert. They [were] cute. [People] kept coming up and being like… they're worried about all the characters."

Now if we could only get Robbie's opinion on Slipknot's potentially-upcoming album Look Outside Your Window if and when it drops this year.
