When I woke up this morning to news of a Simpsons inspired metal band named Okilly Dokilly, inspired by Homer Simpson's next door neighbor, Ned Flanders, my first reaction was: what took so long? The Pheonix-based band write songs with lyrics inspired by Ned Flanders quotes. All the band members are named Ned:
In an interview with the frontman, he described their sound:
“Not as fast as Bartcore, and a little cleaner than Krusty Punk,” Head Ned said of the band's sound. “Not as heavy as Homer J.ent- Nedal is a happy medium in the Simpscene.”
Okay, we get it, it's funny. But is the music any good? I'll let you listen to their debut EP, Okilly Demos and decide for yourself.
Spoiler: it's not that good. But points for creativity. As fellow Metal Injection scribe Shayne Mathis pointed out to me, Dr. Collosus is a far better Simspons tribute band:
