As sponsors of the No Mercy Metal Showcase I've had the pleasure of catching several great new acts sling their brand of metal through out the tri-state area. I unfortunately couldn't make this month's showcase, but the reason I'm kicking my own ass is because I missed Angel Vivaldi live. If you're unfamiliar with the name, and like high caliber djenty instrumentation, get stoked.
Angel Vivaldi is a self-instructed guitarist determined to showcase his brand of guitar heavy instrumental music to the world. I first heard about Angel with the release of his debut Revelations in 2008, and although has joined forces with other bands through the years, he is back with a new solo release and sounding better than ever. The 2011 EP titled Universal Language was recorded at The Machine Shop (Lamb of God, Suicide Silence), features new drummer Bill Fore (Ex-Mutiny Within) and is full of all the things you want to hear including hypnotizing melodies, poly-rhythm madness, chunky riffs, and loads of shred. Fortunately we live in a day and age of instant gratification, so you don't have to take my word for it, take a listen for yourself. If you're into it, Vivaldi has signed copies of his new EP available at his web store.
