Cowards are one of the most exciting forces in France's potent scene. Their unique brand of hardcore meets black metal at once captures a sense of down to earth destruction as well as one of nihilistic beauty. The tormented screams that haunt this new single "Like Us" are stunning and showcase a darker side of hardcore. Their tendency to let the sheer noise slip in and choke you out is stunning, hinting at brave new worlds the band has yet to conquer. There is something deeply disturbing and wonderfully twisted about what the band has done here and the deeper you delve the more obvious it is – there is no hope behind the veil. Cowards are masterful songwriters and tear you limb from fucking limb. It's incredible to see a band with this much destructive force behind them. The labels behind this monstrosity, some of which I'm sure you know, like Throatruiner Records and Deadlight Entertainment, as well as Dooweet and Terrain VAGUE seem to understand the fundamental madness behind Cowards. After all, there is almost nothing else like it.

"The lyrics to that song were actually written by someone exterior to the band, Francis Caste, who records everything we've put out so far. He wrote it for his pop rock band Belvil but they never release that particular song. We've always found those words to match the Cowards universe in their ambivalence: a simple change of scenery makes them either very poetic and fraternal or quite cruel and defying. Not that you would but should you want to be like us, you'll have to get close to that flame."
