Every month, Decibel scribe Shane Mehling reviews the four videos that appear in the monthly metal mag. under “Decibel’s Clips of the Month at Metal Injection.” This month, watch picks from Toxic Holocaust, Kataklysm, KEN Mode, and a classic clip from King Diamond.
Motörhead: “Heartbreaker”

Rule #1 of metal videos is that if a guy draws weird creatures in his bedroom, that shit has to come alive. And so it does, as live footage of old British men is interspersed with pen and ink snakes and dinosaurs viciously arousing and… wait—why aren’t these creatures turning on their creator and attacking him? And why are there 30 seconds of credits for a three-minute video?
Behemoth: “Blow Your Trumpets, Gabriel”
[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/80943193[/vimeo]
This is the classic girl-runs-into-demons-and-then-turns-into-a-demon-herself, or something. You know what I’m talking about. She’s pretty, she’s scared, but by the end she’s bald and naked with black eyes, playing a horn in front of hanging meat slabs. Note: I watched both the censored and uncensored versions, and they seem exactly the same, both breast and gore-wise. But I must give Behemoth credit for having far and away the coolest video this month while not listing the director, actors, makeup artists and caterers at the end. Because look what’s next…
Queensrÿche: “Ad Lucem”

Uh, is this some sort of sick fucking joke? Eleven and a half minutes? Fine, fine—here it is: Cop turns on his crooked cop brother, who beats him up. In the hospital, he falls in love with the nurse, marries her, and she dies while giving birth. This is the first five minutes. Absolutely nothing else happens. Then he thinks about killing himself, doesn’t, and reconciles with his brother. This takes another four and a half minutes. Then there are two minutes of credits. Seriously, was this just to fuck with me?
CLASSIC CLIP – Mastodon: “Colony of Birchmen”

This has a lot of woods and caves and otherworldly things made of CGI (possibly some of them being Birchmen), so if you like any of that stuff, you’re way stoked. There is also a literal blood mountain at one point, which I assume they were contractually forced to throw in there. And holy shit, at the end there are more drawings that come alive. I don’t know who puts these lists together, but they really know what I kind of/sort of like, somewhat.
