Decibel Clips of the Month – November, 2012: Videos From Paradise Lost, Graveyard, Murder Construct, Killswitch Engage

Every month, Decibel scribe Shane Mehling reviews the four videos that appear in the mag under “Decibel’s Clips of the Month at Metal Injection.” This month, watch picks from Paradise Lost, Graveyard, Murder Construct and a classic clip from Killswitch Engage.

Paradise Lost “Fear of Impending Hell”

When you’re in a band and the director says, “Oh yeah, we’re gonna do one of those videos where you’re just on tour,” you must be so stoked. No lip-syncing, no retakes and everyone can see all million faces you just rocked. Okay, maybe you have to go like walk around a cemetery for half an hour for some filler, but you’re rewarded with looking like metal’s biggest badass just by drinking a beer in slo-mo.

Graveyard “Goliath”

This video has some sort of anti-iPad/pro-Public Access TV message, and also takes a strong stance against wolves hiding in houseplants while promoting children vigilantes. Is that enough to get you to watch this? What about a guy sporting heavy music’s least realistic moustache? No? Still? Well, uh, let me get back to you…

Murder Construct “Red All Over”

Considering vocalist Travis Ryan’s other band, Cattle Decapitation, just released history’s most fucked video, this one—featuring demented graphics and vicious murders—doesn’t exactly have me clutching my pearls. But there are still demented graphics and vicious murders and, honestly, it feels nice to enjoy some brutal deathgrind without having to record a “Two Girls, One Cup”-type reaction video.

CLASSIC CLIP: Killswitch Engage “My Last Serenade”

Do you like your bands tiny? Like so small they can fit in a hovering salad spinner while some girl in a white room sort of just stares at them? Because that is what you’re getting in this video, and literally nothing more. Well, I guess there’s also a couch. And some sort of red square. Oh, and a drummer who chose to keep himself warm with a wool hat instead of just wearing a shirt.
