According to a video the band posted on August 21, Dimmu Borgir are planning on performing at the Wacken Open Air Festival with an entire orchestra. Oh hell yes!

Not that I'll be there or anything, but it's still exciting that the band's brand of orchestral metal will be given the proper treatment with an entire orchestra. Outside of the video the band haven't said anything to my knowledge about it, so I guess this is their way of very quietly announcing the ordeal. The video playthrough is cool enough to watch as well, as drummer Daray masterfully shreds his way through the band's "Kings of the Carnival Creation" off their 2001 record Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia… which also points in the direction of "the band will be doing an orchestral performance of their killer old material, or at the very least that song." How cool is that? So far we've got Dimmu Borgir with an orchestra, Emperor reuniting at the festival… what next? A new Necrophagist record and performance?
