Dave Grohl, when speaking about Rush, asked "how can three guys make so much noise?" Well Mr. Grohl, this one's for you. Portuguese death-doom duo Oak have prepared their new music video for the song "Maze" and are ready to show it off. "Maze" comes from their recently released album Lone that came out through Transcending Obscurity Records.
Featuring Guilherme Henriques (Gaerea) on vocals and guitar, and Pedro Soares (Gaerea) on drums, these two make a whole lot of noise and have a ton of emotion in their music. The video was also directed by Henriques, so the video captures the song exactly as he pictures it.
"Maze" is a song that brinks more on the death side than it does doom. It's not necessarily a slow song by any means, but the song captures the raw emotion that Oak aim to infuse into their music. There's no gimmicks to the video, no quick cuts to any other random imagery. It's just two guys, in a dark, red room, playing their hearts out. Much like a music video should be, it should show the music and match the style.
Spanning almost 9 minutes, "Maze" is a great watch . Especially if you want to see how minimalistic a music video can be and still capture the heart and soul of the music. Give it a watch, check out the band's new album Lone if the song speaks to you, it's a great listen and well worth your time.
