There are already a few sleeper albums in 2019 that have seemingly fallen under the radar, and one of those is from Milwaukee-based death metal extremity Syrictus.
Created and recorded by Erik Stenglein of the Gilead Media sludge act Northless, the solo project is every weirdo's dream as Stenglein's thematic motivation stems from his personal interests in extraterrestrials, cryptids, conspiracies, the occult and everything in between.
The band released its ferocious and purposely lo-fi debut album Anticosmia last month on Night Rhythms Recordings and, boy, is it a doozy.
According to the press release, "the album is a blurring, yet multifaceted, foray into the universe of expanded death metal themes" and is sonically influenced by Stenglein's love of Gorguts, Morbid Angel and Spawn of Possession.
