GYRE Premiere Groove-Riddled New Track, "I Release"

Groovy New York metal!

Groovy New York metal!

Hailing from New York, Gyre are a band I had heard nothing about before writing this post, and shame on me, because they're pretty damn good. They've premiered a new track called "I Release", and it's full of some totally killer and groovy riffs. Upon my first listen, I was immediately reminded of the groove-laden style that bands such as Sikth and Destrage do, but with a slightly more thrashy approach. The band provided this quote about the band:

The song is about reclaiming your life through the choices you make and letting go of the things that hold you back from your desires and dreams.  On this album we were heavily influenced by the feel of the music of our youth: thrash like Megadeth and Metallica – combined with the newer prog rock of Mastodon mixed with the aggression of Converge.

"I Release" is set to appear on the band's forthcoming EP, Moirai, which will be released on May 12. Follow the band on Bandcamp and Facebook for more info.
