PRIMUS Edges Closer To Pure Insanity With "Golden Ticket"

Primus sticks their collective self somewhere between pure insanity and scary genius, though it seems like they're also capable of doing both those things at the exact same time. So it almost came as no surprise the band was going to redo the soundtrack to the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in their own style. We've heard one song off the album and it was… terrifying. So of course their next choice, being "Golden Ticket," is equally strange, though not quite as unsettling.

Snag yourself a copy of Primus and the Chocolate Factory when it's out on October 28.

On October 21, a certain beloved Bay Area prog-funk posse will release Primus & the Chocolate Factory, which is everything you'd hope it'd be based on the title — a concept album honoring the 1971 Gene Wilder-starring Willy Wonka film by remaking its wild music in this band's odd image. A little while back we heard "Pure Imagination," which was bananas and held true (as true a possible) to Les Claypool's description of this project's sound as "early Peter Gabriel meets Dark Side of the Moon meets the Residents." Now we have the pleasure of handing you, dear reader, the "Golden Ticket" itself.
