COFFIN APARTMENT Rage Through “A Quagmire Of Filth And Shame”

Coffin Apartment Promo 2

Wednesdays are known for being the most productive day of the week. It is midway through the slog and the weekend is finally in sight. So, giving this day a swift kick in the ass can only make it pass faster. It is time to kick it hardcore.

Coffin Apartment are and are not the typical hardcore/punk band. Formed in 2018, the Portland, OR band features a slew of influences from power violence to math and noise rock. And after a few releases, the band is ready to unleash their first offering of Full Torso Apparition.

”A Quagmire Of Filth And Shame” is a two-minute no-nonsense hardcore track. It starts frantic and maintains that’s a mentality. However, despite its punk punch the track band is quick to administer a kinda noise rock feel. It floats between the genres for a bit and tugs at other genres like a bit of a grind feel, but something that still stays punk through and through.

A quote on the song from guitarist/vocalist Johnny Brooke:

"The song title was taken from a sermon given by Jimmy Swaggert about the end times, sometime in the 60's. We were using bits and pieces of the speech as samples between songs at our shows, and the content was ridiculous, all about the perils of falling prey to the devil's way. This is the shortest track on the album, we often play it first in our live set. The lyrics touch on loss of personal control, dichotomous thinking, and relief in death."

Though it is only a taste of things to come, it is a very strong start for Coffin Apartment’s full length. Those that are into hardcore are not going to want to miss this. It is framed around it but goes beyond. Get pumped for this one.
