Ever the talented artist; Ayloss has been creating wildly expansive music for over 15 years now. Of course, his most notable works come from the effort known as Spectral Lore. He handles all of the instrumentation for the black metal project. He has also recently contributed to the group, Tome of the Unreplenished, featured previously on Metal Injection. Yet, what some do not know is Ayloss' actually started in a death metal band called Divine Element. The band formed in 2003, almost three years before Spectral Lore released any music. While the volume of releases may not be as large, Divine Element's music certainly carries its own merit.
The driving and melodic death metal of Divine Element returns this month. Thaurachs of Borsu marks the first new material in almost seven years. The overall epic tone of the album exudes triumph and conquest. Take the album's title track, for example. Through a combination of melodic death metal and touches of folk, Ayloss and vocalist Antonis (joined by session drummer, Hannes Grossman of Alkaloid), craft a ride into momentous battle. Riffs rain like arrows from the sky while Antonis's bellow commands victory. The title song signals a glorious comeback of Divine Element and is one of the brightest moments on an album that is just the beginning of exciting new material from the band.
Thaurachs of Borsu officially arrives May 19 through I, Voidhanger Records. Listen to the track below and also follow the band on Facebook.
