Seattle's He Whose Ox Is Gored is one of the best underground bands you've never heard off. Musically, the band fuses doom metal with prog and a bit of shoegaze to create a sound that's greater than the sum of its parts. Last year, the band released their debut full length The Camel, The Lion, The Child and it was a big leap forward musically. I chose it as one of my favorite albums of 2015, and I still stand by that decision.
He Whose Ox Is Gored's follow-up to The Camel, The Lion, The Child is a 2-song 7" that's being released on Record Store Day and it's Metal Injection's distinct honor to bring you an exclusive stream of both songs.
The two tracks, titled "Vulse" and "Static", continue the musical direction of the band's full length but heavily feature the voice of Lisa Mungo, the band's keyboardist. She's had a vocal presence in the band's music from the beginning, but here her voice is front and center in a way it hasn't been in the past. This is a great addition to the He Whose Ox Is Gored musical canon, and I'm happy to bring you poor, unsuspecting bastards this slice of sonic goodness!
The Vulse//Static 7" will be available for purchase at participating record stores in Seattle, online at frcollective.com and directly from the band on Record Store Day this Saturday April 16th. You can pre-order the 7" through the He Whose Ox Is Gored Bandcamp page, as well.
