So Hideous had me sold on its sound when Last Poem/First Light came out in 2013. It was an album that was beautiful, yet had a lot of darker, grimier elements to it. So I'm not even remotely surprised that the group's follow up, titled Laurestine, is even better than that. For instance, take the song "Yesteryear" below, which combines a lot of cinematic elements with a very honest, roomy sound that's unrelentingly heavy in the background… and yet together they work!
