Southern California blackened doom quartet Sixes is one of the best kept secrets among the sludge and doom underground, but that is slowly changing thanks to the band's partnership with Conan's Jon Paul Davis and his management company Blackskull Services.
The band's debut album, Methistopheles , blew us away with its no-holds-barred penchant to shift from blistering black metal to misanthropic doom in a blink of an eye. Sixes' new album, tentatively titled Cokesucker, is seemingly doubling down on that disgusting approach, and we couldn't be happier.
Recorded by Brent Wisdom and mastered by Brad Boatright, "Misery Hag" is an anti-life sludge monstrosity complete with heavy bass and a whole lot of groove.
"It's very satisfying to release all the most miserable emotions in song," says bassist Zander Reddis.
No word on Cokesucker 's release date, but we will be the first to let you know. In the meantime, enjoy the ugly tones of "Misery Hag" below:
