SKRILLEX Loves Him Some MACHINE HEAD

Also, Robb Flynn had to go to a Skrillex show.

Also, Robb Flynn had to go to a Skrillex show.

Machine Head released The Burning Red in 1999, and if you've ever heard that record then you're well aware that it's very much a product of its time. While touring on the record in 2000, a certain Sonny Moore attended the show at the age of 18 (or 17 – dude was born in '88). You might know Moore as Skrillex, or the former frontman of From First To Last.

Rob Flynn recounts taking his kids to see Skrillex, finding out about this, and also being somehow shocked at how the younger generation dresses at EDM events. You can read the whole longwinded post at the bottom of this, but here's Flynn's moment of realization.

Ever have that “wait, what?” moment? That moment where, in the middle of a conversation your inner dialogue just goes “wait, what?”

Mine was when he said…

hat he saw us at The Fillmore in San Francisco…

On ‘The Burning Red’ – “Year Of The Dragon Tour” back in 2000…

When he was 13 years old!? “We blew him away.”

….that is so crazy to me.

16 years ago, this dude, who is essentially one of the biggest artists in the world right now, was a Machine Head fan.

Skrillex.

I'm not saying From First To Last was "heavy," but I think it's at least a little obvious that Moore and the band were into some heavier stuff.

Now we wait for the Skrillex Head nu-metal album.
