A Week In Which Dave Grohl Continued To Prove How Awesome He Was

What a busy week in heavy metal this has between. Between all the new music this week, the crazy Black Sabbath news, and all the awesome new music videos, I barely had time to collect myself before creating this recap. Here's a look back at some of this week's biggest stories and videos:

Dave Grohl gave an impassioned speech at the Grammys, which was pretty much the only highlight, and then released another statement further clarifying his stance on creating music, further cementing himself as the coolest motherfucker in the music business.

Dave Mustaine was asked who we would vote for for president, and he responded with Rick Santorum, the guy who they named "that frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the by-product of anal sex" after. So, he's a classy guy. Then, a bunch of comedians made fun of Mustaine, giving him the biggest pub he's had in the last 20 years, and Mustaine ended up sorta retracting his statement.

We heard another new song from Meshuggah.

Black Sabbath had good news and bad news. The good news is drummer Bill Ward is feeling optimistic about rejoining the band, the bad news is Sabbath had to pull out of most of their European commitments due to Tony Iommi's lymphoma diagnosis.

We premiered a new music video from UNEARTH, and posted new videos from SOULFLY, ASPHYX, AUTOPSY, MESHUGGAH, EVAN BREWERIN DEFENCE and an awesome Beavis & Butthead tribute video from HELMS ALEE .

In our continued celebration of Black Metal History Month, we posted  Wan all-black metal edition of The FiX, our music video podcast, as well as a video corpse paint tutorial, a list of 10 Bands That Shaped The History Of Black Metal and more.

Two new ASK THE ARTISTS were posted this week: Favorite Part of Being In A Band & Most Metal Valetines Day Gift.

We posted a slew of live videos including GOATWHORELOCK UPWEEKEND NACHOSTRIVIUM Cover METALLICA, ZOROASTER, HAIL! HORNET.

I was brought to tears watching this news report on former Decapitated vocalist Adrian “Covan” Kowanek, who was paralyzed in a tragic bus accident a few years ago.

The nominees and performers were announced for  this year's Revolver Golden Gods Awards. We will be there, as always.

Slayer have seven songs written for a new album, and keep shilling crappy merchandise.

We announced our killer SXSW showcase, with our friends at MetalSucks and Metal Insider (and some help from Peavey, and ddrum) which will feature High on Fire, Darkest Hour, Nachtmystium, Intronaut, Black Tusk, Holy Grail, and MonstrO. Get all the deets.
