What a crazy week this has been, between the huge Big 4 show on Wednesday and all the happenings at the beginning of the week, you may have missed some things that fell through the cracks. With that, let's take a look back at the biggest happenings of this week on the site:
Let's get the Big 4 out of the way first. We uploaded a 13-minute video report, with live footage from all the bands as well as reactions from myself and Axl Rosenberg of Metalsucks, where both of us live blogged the entire event. Additionally, we posted the full clip of all the bands jamming to Motorhead's "Overkill."
To promote The Big 4, Lars Ulrich went on Howard Stern to do what ended up being a must-hear interview for any fan of Metallica, past or present. Also, Dave Mustaine gave an interview where he spoke of his neck injury and how God allowed him to perform one more time.
There was a guitar clinic held on Monday prior to a free Anthrax show, and it turned out to be quite the star studded event as Phil Anselmo got on stage to do some Pantera covers, jamming with Kerry King of Slayer, Mike Portnoy, Dave Ellefson of Megadeth, and members of Anthrax. It was quite the surreal moment and you can watch that here.
We asked Arch Enemy guitarist Michael Amott and bassist Sharlee D'Angelo to pick their favorite videos for the newest edition of The FiX. They went a very power metal route with cuts from Fates Warning, King Diamond, Savatage, Queensrÿche, Crimson Glory. Watch that here.
We launched an awesome contest where we ask you to make Abysmal Dawn's next video, in exchange for some ridiculous and priceless prizes. Get the details here.
There were a ton of new music videos released this week. We premiered the new one from the new one from Insomnium and saw new videos from Pathology, Evile, As Blood Runs Black, The Ocean, Ghost Brigade and Nightfall.
We posted live footage of Animals As Leaders performing a brand new song, Torche rocking Austin, TX, and two Obituary clips from Scion Rock Fest.
We posted reviews of the new albums from Anthrax, Dream Theater and Wolves in the Throne Room.
We finally heard what William Shatner and Zakk Wydle's version of "Iron Man" sounds like.
We learned that Lamb of God finished recording their new album, meanwhile The Facless' album has been delayed due to injury.
We got excited about the upcoming Mastodon, Dillinger Escape Plan, Red Fang tour.
See you guys back here next week, where we have a ton of clips planned to premiere! Now if you excuse me, I have some cake I have to eat.
