Here's a promising survey, recently conducted by Pollstar and VenuesNow. In a new survey, they reached out to 1,350 live industry professionals asking a range of questions about when live events can return, and 54% think things will be back at full capacity in 2021.
An additional 30.6% feel that concerts won't be back at full capacity until 2022. Here is the full chart:
Of the people surveyed, 24% were from concert venues, 17% were promoters and talent buyers, 16% in production and 11% had "hybrid" job titles.
Of the people questioned, asked if they would personally work a show or embark on a tour, 42% said only with health guidelines, 31.33% said no, and only 17.59% said yes.
One thing most of these professionals agree on, is the government has not done enough. 75.2% feel the government hasn't given enough consideration to the live event industry.
"We embarked on this survey project with the goal of taking the pulse of an industry that has not only been hammered by the pandemic like few others, but also to discover their views on the social unrest from their unique perspective as purveyors of the cultural touchstone that is live entertainment," said Ray Waddell, president of OVG Media & Conferences, which includes Pollstar and VenuesNow. "While clearly there is a lot of angst and concern regarding the realities of both our social issues and the future business of live, there is also much hope and optimism that this industry we love can not only return to greatness, but also return as a more diverse and equitable business than ever before. We thank all those who participated in this unprecedented survey."

Until venues do get back to full capacity, we fully expect more bands to be canceling rescheduled dates. Many have said the only way concerts can fully reopen is if venues embrace rapid testing.
