A DAY TO REMEMBER Awarded $4 Million In Contract Dispute with Victory Records

A Day To Remember have been embroiled in a legal battle with their former label Victory Records for five years now, over their recording contract. The hold-up was over the amount of releases the band owed to the label. The band claimed various live albums and re-releases counted towards their total and Victory disagreed, and said the band owed them more money.

Today, a Chicago court sided with A Day To Remember. Law360 reports that the jury found the band fulfilled their contract and that Victory will be paying the four mil for unpaid royalties and withheld proceeds from digital downloads and merchandise sales.

ThePRP reports the jury granted the band composition rights to their songs, while Victory get the sound recording copyrights.

Bassist Josh Woodard said the verdict was “incredible, a little surreal, like you can breathe finally.” I'm assuming Victory will eventually appeal.
