Vinyl has come back in a very significant way over the past few years, but this month has been its peak three times now. According to Billboard, 1.445 million vinyl were sold in the United States alone during the week of December 17.
This number beats the previous record of 1.253 million sold during the week of December 3, and 1.195 million sold during the week of December 10. All three of these records are the most vinyl ever sold in one week since sales began being tracked by Nielsen Music in 1991.
Unsurprisingly, the vinyl leading the charge during the week of December 17 was Folklore by Taylor Swift, which sold 23,000 copies. Vinyl breaking 1 million units in sales has only happened once before outside this month, and that was the week of December 26, 2019. So yeah, vinyl is back in a really major way.
