Wintersun began crowdfunding its new album The Forest Seasons, as well as a new studio, at the start of this month. The band was asking for €150,000 ($159,967.50) for this funding campaign, and planned/plans on running several funding campaigns until they reach the €750,000 ($799,837.50) ultimate goal to buy and build a Wintersun studio and headquarters.
The band ended up raising €428,310 ($456,771.20) this time around, or 286% of what it was trying to achieve. I still don't fully understand why Wintersun needs an entire building to do what bands like Septicflesh and Dimmu Borgir do without an entire building dedicated to their needs, but apparently I'm in the minority here.
The Forest Seasons is out sometime in July via Nuclear Blast.
