Detroit-native Alice Cooper now has a street named after him in his home city. Cooper attended an unveiling ceremony on September 23, where he revealed to the world the newly-minted Alice Cooper Court on the grounds of the former Eloise Psychiatric Hospital. Because really, where else should there be a street named after the father of shock rock?
According to the Detroit Free Press, Cooper said he loves "the idea that they’re naming streets after rock stars in Detroit," and suggested Iggy Pop and MC5 as the next candidates. "I think there's more rock stars here than politicians, right?"
As for having a street named after him on the grounds of a former psychiatric hospital, Cooper joked to the crowd "I’ll probably end up living here someday."
