If you haven't seen the Acadamy Award-nominated film, The Big Short yet, you are missing out on some good heavy metal tunes being played on the large movie theater sound system. Our buddies at MetalSucks have a good run down of all the metal in the film. The movie is about the recent stock market crash and actor Christian Bale plays Mike Burry, a savant who saw the crash coming from a mile away.
To unwind from stressful days, Burry would come home and blast Mastodon and Pantera to unwind. Turns out, this made the cut in the movie and Christian Bale had to learn to play drums. He had about two weeks and learned by playing Pantera and Mastodon, according to a recent interview with Screenrant. Here's what he said:
“It was a wonderful crash course, double kick drum. Pantera, ‘By Demons Be Driven’ – fantastic song to begin with. This is how Mike Burry unwound. This is actually how he calmed down. He would listen to it all day long in his headphones – and not just that, Mastodon as well – but his brain is on fire so much that death metal calms him. He’s a very different individual to most of us.”

Now if you excuse me, I have some Pantera to blast.
