A few weeks ago, we wrote about episode 5 on Silicon Valley which featured the character of Gilfoyle, portrayed by Martin Starr, creating an app that plays the Napalm Death signature 1.36 second song "You Suffer" whenever Bitcoin drops, so he can toggle his rig at home.

If you missed the episode, here is a clip:

Well, according to The Verge, somebody went ahead and actually built this app:

Now, an Icelandic website design agency called Viska has created a web version ofGilfoyle’s death metal alert — which is just as startling as promised. Sindri Guðmundsson from Viska explained that his company watches Silicon Valley as a weekly event while a season is airing and that the team built the tool “just for fun.” The Viska team wrote a simple Javascript plugin that fetches the price of bitcoin from Coincap.io, then built the site off WordPress, all within three hours. Now all a user will need to completely imitate Gilfoyle is an actual mining rig at home to toggle on and off remotely.

Guðmundsson told The Verge he enjoys the sound of "the beautiful music" (referring to Napalm Death) anytime there is a change in the Bitcoin price.

Do you invest in Bitcoin?
